Globecomm selected for SATCOM program

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- The U.S. government has contracted Globecomm Systems Inc. to provide satellite communications support for on-the-move operations.

U.S. company Globecomm was awarded the contract as part of the Commercial SATCOM Terminal Program. Under the $17.7 million contract, Globecomm will provide SATCOM on-the-move communications including Soldier Node Extension Prophet Satellite Terminal integration and services.

The contract was awarded under the World Wide Satellite Systems program and is part of the Project Manager Warfighter Information Network-Tactical and Program Executive Office: Command, Control and Communications Tactical.

"This is a very important contract for Globecomm and represents a strategic entrance for Globecomm into Satellite Communications-on-the-Move systems," David Hershberg, Globecomm Systems chief executive officer and chairman, said in a statement.
