WASHINGTON, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has expanded its deployment of an emergency mass notification system made by Alertus Technologies at its Brussels-based Garrison.
U.S. company Alertus says the Army has selected its wall-mounted Alert Beacons for integration at the Garrison in Brussels. The deployment of the beacon technology marked Alertus' first overseas military installation.
In case of an emergency the beacons will produce an alert sound and strobes along with providing a digital message with information on the nature of the potential threat.
"Alertus is proud to be helping Defense Department protect its people and assets against acts of violence and terrorism, natural disasters, biological, chemical, or nuclear emergencies, and other threats," Jason Volk, Alertus chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"Timely, reliable mass notification allows members of our armed forces to communicate critical information to save lives, and Alertus is privileged to continue its work with U.S. Army Garrisons."
