MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency has renewed a contract for LaserCard Corp. to continue providing its identification technologies and reader systems.

California-based LaserCard is under contract with General Dynamics Information Technology, which received a three-year contract renewal from the Defense Logistics Agency. LaserCard's ID technologies are used by the Defense Department for securely identifying contents in shipping containers.

As part of a subcontract LaserCard announced it has marked a milestone shipping its one millionth automated manifest system card used by the Defense Department.

"Our cards are deployed throughout the U.S. Army's distribution and receiving infrastructure worldwide, and continue to meet the most demanding cargo identification, reporting and durability needs," Robert DeVincenzi, LaserCard president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"We are pleased to continue our engagement in this important program."
