NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has contracted Ian, Evan and Alexander Corp. to lead a team providing biometric support services.

U.S. company IEA was awarded an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity multiple award contract from the Department of Defense Biometrics Task Force. IEA is one of six companies selected for a Defense Department's Biometrics Operations and Support Services-Restricted contract.

Officials say IEA will lead a team that includes 13 companies providing biometric services in the "technology management, independent validation and verification, and management support services" areas, a news release said.

"IEA is indeed fortunate to lead a team of industry-leading biometric corporations -- each with very specialized biometric technologies," John Cochran, IEA president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
