CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Project Agency has awarded Goodrich a phase III contract to continue supporting the Photon Counting Array program.
U.S. company Goodrich says its Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance unit will work on the DARPA phase III award as part of an effort to further develop its short wave infrared, or SWIR, imaging technologies.
Under the phase III award, Goodrich's development of its SWIR technology will help advance night-vision capability with small, lightweight cameras as part of DARPA's Photon Counting Array program.
"Our work in the Photon Counting Array program will further the capability of Goodrich's SWIR cameras, giving our warfighters a great advantage on the battlefield," Ed Hart, Goodrich ISR Systems vice president and general manager in Princeton N.J., said in a statement.
"Going beyond detection to identification is an urgent need, and we look forward to developing and deploying this technology to many diverse platforms."
