SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. National Security Agency has contracted General Dynamics to develop a secure classified data distribution encryptor for military networks.
U.S. company General Dynamics says its C4 Systems unit was awarded the National Security Agency deal. Under the $7.6 million contract, General Dynamics will develop a next-generation KG-530 Synchronous Optical Networks, or SONET, OC-768C in-line encryptor.
Officials say the encryptor technology will be expected to provide military and other government networks with secure large file data transferring capabilities at 40 gigabits per second line rate.
"With the KG-530, General Dynamics continues to deliver the technologies and products that secure our nation's most sensitive information as it moves through cyberspace," John Cole, General Dynamics C4 Systems Information Assurance vice president, said in a statement.
