HUNT VALLEY, Md., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- AAI Corp. announced its unmanned aircraft technologies were successfully demonstrated during a recent defense concepts trial in Australia.

U.S. company AAI says its Australia-based Aerosonde participated in demonstrations at the Woomera Test Facility in southern Australia conducted by the Australia Defense Science and Technology Organization.

The trial, designed to test unmanned aircraft integrated with electronic warfare systems, successfully demonstrated the completion of more than 40 flights of the Aerosonde aircraft equipped with an electronic warfare payload.

"As unmanned aircraft grow in capability and maturity, the range of missions they can handle also grows," Steven Reid, AAI vice president of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, said in a statement.

"Small systems such as our Aerosonde unmanned aircraft deliver powerful benefits including long endurance and multi-mission capability."
