Defense Dept. selects Identec Solutions

LUSTENAU, Austria, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has contracted Identec Solutions to provide its radio frequency identification technologies to support the tracking of vehicles.

Austrian company Identec Solutions announced it was selected by the Defense Department to deliver its ILR, or Intelligent Long Range, technology that meets the International Standardization for Organization 18000-7.

The RFID system will be used by the Defense Department to Department to track vehicles, and cargo among other sensitive military assets.

"This first significant order from the U.S. Department of Defense is an important step for Identec Solutions as it validates over two years of development work, and places us at the forefront of providing a full line of fully interoperable, active RFID products in both the commercial and governmental marketplace," Gerhard Schedler, Identec Solutions president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
