TEWKSBURY, Mass., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- The Marshall Legacy Institute has selected U.S. company Raytheon to receive its Clearing the Path Corporate Award honor.

The Marshall Legacy Institute, a non-profit agency working to prevent further suffering in war-torn countries, announced Raytheon would receive the Clearing the Path Corporate Award for 2009.

Raytheon was selected for the award after being recognized as among the Marshall Legacy Institute's "consistent and generous donors" supporting landmine removal initiatives among other activities.

"Raytheon is committed to supporting Marshall Legacy Institute's important humanitarian mission of removing landmines," Joseph Garrett, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems vice president and deputy for patriot programs, said in a statement.
