LONDON, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- A conference has been scheduled for Thursday in England addressing security challenges facing London ahead of the 2012 Olympics and other major events.

The two-day conference, called Secure London, is taking place in London's Tower Guoman Hotel. The conference is part of an effort to bring together security experts to discuss evolving security threats facing London and other cities hosting major events including the 2012 Olympics.

The meeting will feature an address from Steve Cooper, head of security for the Olympic Delivery Authority, along with officials speaking on hostage crisis and counter-terrorism lessons learned among other planned discussions.

According to a news release, "the conference concentrates on the tried and tested critical elements that organizers need to incorporate in their planning."
