MORGANTOWN, Va., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy contracted Augusta Systems Inc. to develop an intelligent surveillance system for panoramic and 360-degree imaging.
Augusta Systems announced its latest development would be based on its EdgeFrontier technology that integrates multiple monitoring applications into a single system for port and river security operations.
Patrick Esposito, president and chief executive officer of Augusta Systems, described the surveillance system as a tool to increase reconnaissance capabilities.
"Integrating multiple monitoring technologies into a converged system, under a common operating picture, provides a more efficient and effective security solution," he said.
The system incorporates ground sensors, environmental threat detection systems and visualization systems.
Its surveillance system is designed for fixed locations or for use on unmanned vehicles to provide a panoramic image within a single unit.
