RESTON, Va., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army awarded Raytheon Co. a $44 million contract to maintain an advanced combat training program for U.S. and international forces in Kuwait.
The U.S. Third Army Command awarded Raytheon with a multiple-year contract to improve, deliver and maintain an advanced training program at its base in Kuwait.
Mike Edwards, a vice president of warfighting for Raytheon, said his company would support all training and training-related tasks for the U.S. military and its coalition partners in Kuwait.
Raytheon has been active in support of the U.S. Army training centers for roughly 20 years.
"We plan to provide the same flexibility, innovation and quality service to our customers in Third Army," said Edwards.
Raytheon Technical Services Co., the contracted subsidiary, provides training services for mission support of counter-terrorism and counter-proliferation activities.
The U.S. Army stages components of its forces for various operations in Iraq, including Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
