Northrop Grumman supports KC-10

HERNDON, Va., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force contracted Northrop Grumman Corp. to provide logistics support for the fleet of the KC-10 Extender refueling tanker aircraft.

Under the terms of the nine-year contract, Northrop Grumman provides supply chain, engine and aircraft management for the KC-10 refueling tanker. The contract includes aircraft maintenance and modifications as well.

"The KC-10 Extender is the U.S. Air Force's strategic air mobility asset today, and the Northrop Grumman team is committed to ensure its operational readiness to meet all mission requirements through world-class program management, innovation and commitment to excellence," said James Cameron, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman's Technical Services sector.

The aircraft is part of the fleet for the Air Force Air Mobility Command in support of counter-terrorism and humanitarian operations.

The work outlined in the contract is scheduled for the Lake Charles, La., facility of Northrop Grumman.

The nine-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract has a maximum value of $3.8 billion.
