WICHITA FALLS, Texas, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force contracted DynCorp International to provide aircraft maintenance support for its training wing at an air base in Wichita Falls, Texas.

DynCorp International, under a $31.2 million contract with the U.S. Air Force, will provide maintenance services for the 80th Flying Training Wing based at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, the company announced.

"We are proud of the aviation partnership we have enjoyed with the Air Force for over a half-century, a partnership that demonstrates our enduring commitment to the training, safety and readiness of our nation's aviators," said DynCorp International President and Chief Executive William Ballhaus.

Graduates of the undergraduate pilot training school at Sheppard Air Force Base are assigned fighter pilot positions in their respective air force units for the United States and NATO allies.

In July, the U.S. Army contracted a DynCorp -led team to support ongoing operations in southern Afghanistan with logistics services.

The U.S. Air Force contract is for 11 months and six option years and has a potential value of $230 million.
