WALTHAM, Mass., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Brazilian defense authorities have selected Northrop Grumman Corp. to deliver its navigation technologies for integration in the navy's patrol vessels.

U.S. company Northrop Grumman says its Sperry Marine unit was awarded the contract. Under the deal Sperry Marine will deliver four of its VisionMaster FT navigation systems to the Brazil navy.

Delivery of the VisionMaster FT technology, which will be integrated into Brazil's new NAPA 500-ton patrol vessels, will include navigation system consoles, navigation radars, and heading and speed sensors among other next-generation technologies.

"Sperry Marine's selection to be the preferred supplier of navigation systems for this new class of patrol boats builds on our more than 30-year relationship with the Brazil navy," Nolasco DaCunha, Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine vice president, said in a statement.
