NASHUA, N.H., Sept. 16 (UPI) -- BAE Systems marked a milestone with its missile warning system after the completion of more than a million combat flight hours during U.S. Army deployments.
British company BAE has delivered more than 1,700 of its Common Missile Warning System units for integration with Black Hawk, Chinook and Apache helicopters among other aircraft since 2004 to support U.S. military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
BAE announced Tuesday its CMWS technology, designed to respond to and defeat incoming infrared-guided missiles, has reached a milestone with more than one million combat flight hours supporting military deployments.
"CMWS has provided our aviators and soldiers with the best technology available to save lives from infrared missile engagements," Jim Crouch, BAE Systems vice president and general manager of survivability and protection systems, said in a statement.
"In achieving a million combat flight hours, CMWS has more than proved its worth to the warfighter."
