BAE Systems names new executive VP

ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Maryland-based BAE Systems Inc. has named a new executive vice president in a move to realign its management to greater impact its overall strategy.

Tony Zinni, BAE acting president and chief executive officer, announced the appointment of Sheila Cheston as the company's new executive vice president.

Cheston, BAE's senior vice president, general counsel and secretary since 2002, is a former special associate counsel to the president of the United States. Officials say Cheston will be responsible for overseeing the company's strategic plan development and implementation among other tasks.

"I am confident that this realignment will enhance BAE Systems' ability to anticipate and respond to new and emerging opportunities, supporting continued growth and effective governance," Zinni said in a statement.

"Sheila brings to this position a deep understanding of our core customers and a shared commitment to continue our trusted partnership with them, working with our customers to help meet their evolving requirements."
