HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- U.S. company Orbit International Corp. has been selected to provide the P-3C Orion aircraft upgrade program with avionics support services.
Orbit announced it has received the award worth approximately $525,000 from an undisclosed defense contractor to support a Foreign Military Sale upgrade program for the P-3C Orion maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft.
Under the deal, Orbit will provide the P-3C aircraft with new avionics technologies as part of an effort to extend the aircraft's service life.
"Although our keyboard, trackball, and radar control unit/cockpit control units play a very small part in this state-of-the-art system, the upgraded P-3C Orion aircraft will provide for continued mission system enhancements over many years of extended operational life," Dennis Sunshine, Orbit president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
