ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army recently selected three defense contractors to support environmental remediation services at Army installations in three states.

Army officials awarded Pennsylvania-based Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure a task order to provide remediation services at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. Under the $9.4 million deal Shaw will remove munitions and explosives of concern among other requirements.

The Army Environmental Command contracted CH2M Hill Constructors Inc. for remediation work at Fort Rucker in Alabama. The six and one-half year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract is worth $2.5 million and is part of an effort to address potential explosives safety, health and environmental issues.

The third recent environmental remediation contract was awarded to Pika International Inc. based in Texas. Under the $5.5 million performance-based task order, Pika will provide remediation services at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Nebraska.
