SAN DIEGO, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- U.S. company Kratos Defense and Security Solutions Inc. has been contracted to provide launch support for a ballistic missile defense program.

U.S. company Kratos says its Rocket Support Services business unit was awarded the task order under the U.S. Army Multiple Award Contract for Theoretical Studies and Engineering Research.

As part of the $1.25 million dollar deal, Kratos will provide support services to the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division White Sands, tasked by the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Organization to conduct missile testing operations.

Under the Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division White Sands deal, Kratos will provide rocket launch services and engineering support among other requirements for the forth Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Japanese Flight Test Mission.

"We are extremely pleased to be working with Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division White Sands to provide a low cost solution to meet Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense test requirements," David Carter, Kratos executive vice president, said in a statement.
