LAUREL, Md., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin has received a contract to provide a U.S. military medical facility consolidation effort with logistical support services.

U.S. company Lockheed Martin was awarded the contract from the Army Medical Command to support the Defense Department's medical facility consolidation effort.

Under the $193 million deal, Lockheed Martin will provide relocation and consolidation logistics for Air Force and Navy facility moves to Fort Sam Houston in Texas along with Base Realignment and Closure support.

"Lockheed Martin is honored to be supporting health services for the Department of Defense" Carey Smith, Lockheed Martin Technical Services vice president, said in a statement.

"We know our logistics expertise will help provide a smooth transition for these important units to Fort Sam Houston and ensure that our servicemen and women continue to receive the highest quality medical treatment that they deserve. We are proud to have been chosen by the U.S. Army Medical Command for this important work."
