HAIFA, Israel, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The Finnish Ministry of Defense has contracted Elbit Systems Ltd. to deliver radio and data transmission communication technologies.

Israel-based Elbit was selected by the Finnish Defense Ministry for its Tadiran family of high-speed radio and data transmission communication systems.

Officials from Elbit, an international defense electronics company, say the order for its Tadiran technologies is expected to be delivered before 2012.

"We hope that this contract will be followed by additional orders from both Finland as well as NATO countries and will further strengthen our position as a leading supplier of innovative radio systems worldwide," Bezhalel Machlis, Elbit Systems Land and C4I Tadiran general manager, said in a statement.
