BINGEN, Wash., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Washington state-based Insitu says its ScanEagle unmanned aircraft system has surpassed a milestone for its operational flight hours.

Insitu announced its ScanEagle UAS, deployed in 16 geographical locations around the world, has surpassed 200,000 operational flight hours providing mission critical intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support.

The milestone achievement for the ScanEagle follows another recent milestone for the aircraft technology marking more than 2,500 hours of combat operations. Insitu says the ScanEagle is in operation 24 hours a day in it numerous deployments for the U.S. military and others.

"Over the past five years, the ScanEagle has set a high standard and has proven itself in a variety of missions on land and at sea," Steve Sliwa Insitu chief executive officer and president, said in a statement.

"This experience in theater has afforded us the opportunity to establish finely tuned production, distribution and field support processes to serve our customer's unique needs. These very same attributes now enable our entire family of UASs including Integrator, our next generation multi-mission aircraft."
