OSI to provide MRAPs with sub-assemblies

HAWTHORNE, Calif., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- OSI Systems Inc. has been contracted to support the U.S. Defense Department's armored vehicle program with its sub-assemblies technologies.

U.S. company OSI Systems says its Electronics business unit was awarded the contract from ITT Corp. Under the $6.3 million order, OSI will deliver its electronic sub-assemblies to support the Defense Department's mine resistant ambush protected vehicle program.

MRAP vehicles are designed to help protect troops in combat zones from improvised explosive devised and other militant threats.

"We are pleased to announce this contract award continuing our involvement through ITT in this key Defense Department program," Deepak Chopra, OSI Systems chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"We expect to deliver the sub-assemblies under this contract in fiscal 2010."
