HAWTHORNE, Calif., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- OSI Systems Inc. has been contracted to support the U.S. Defense Department's armored vehicle program with its sub-assemblies technologies.

U.S. company OSI Systems says its Electronics business unit was awarded the contract from ITT Corp. Under the $6.3 million order, OSI will deliver its electronic sub-assemblies to support the Defense Department's mine resistant ambush protected vehicle program.

"We are pleased to announce this contract award continuing our involvement through ITT in this key Defense Department program," Deepak Chopra, OSI Systems chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"We expect to deliver the sub-assemblies under this contract in fiscal 2010."
