CLEARFIELD, Utah, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Northrop Grumman announced it has delivered its rocket motor technology to the U.S. Air Force to support the Minuteman Intercontinental Ballistic Missile.
U.S. company Northrop Grumman has delivered its first-stage solid rocket motor as part of the Air Force Propulsion Replacement Program. The first stage motor, delivered to Northrop Grumman teammate Alliant Techsystems' Utah production facilities, marked the company's final delivery for the Air Force program.
Northrop Grumman has delivered 624 first-stage rocket motors for the Propulsion Replacement Program. Officials say full-rate production of second and third stage motors will continue.
"The Propulsion Replacement Program is continuing to meet its objectives," James Meyers, Northrop Grumman representative, said in a statement.
"We have delivered high-quality products while meeting cost objectives, and we continue to provide the Air Force and our nation with the elements necessary to sustain a vital element of the nation's strategic deterrent."
