MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Raytheon and partner SafeNet Inc. announced a new radio communication solution with a U.S. National Security Agency type one qualification.

U.S. company Raytheon partnered with SafeNet for a recent demonstration of a radio communication technology designed to support U.S. troops operating fixed and rotary wing aircraft and light armored vehicles with secure streaming video and data capabilities.

Raytheon announced its DragonFire radios have been equipped with SafeNet's encryptor technology that has received a type one certification handling classified data by the National Security Agency.

"This cybersecurity solution addresses a critical need in current military communications by allowing only authorized users to communicate in a secure network environment," Jerry Powlen, Raytheon Network Centric Systems Integrated Communications Systems vice president, said in a statement.

"Raytheon leverages more than 20 years experience designing and building crypto-enabled solutions to provide the warfighter the most secure technology."
