TEWKSBURY, Mass., July 30 (UPI) -- Raytheon announced it has received two contract extensions from the U.S. Navy to provide the Aegis weapons system with repair and support services.
U.S. company Raytheon says its Integrated Defense Systems unit was awarded the contracts. As part of the awards, Raytheon will provide the Aegis weapons system with logistics and repairs among other services including the delivery of an AN/SPY-1 radar transmitter ordnance alteration kit.
The Aegis weapons systems, used by the Navy and Coast Guard onboard ships including the Ticonderoga-class cruisers and Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, are supported by Raytheon's AN/SPY-1 radar transmitters and MK99 Fire Control System.
"Raytheon has a long history with the Aegis radar program -- providing highly capable naval radar components and world-class support for Aegis-equipped ships worldwide," Robert Martin, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems vice president and deputy of Seapower Capability Systems, said in a statement.
