DLA orders MOLLE systems from BAE

PHOENIX, July 28 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency has contracted BAE Systems for the delivery of Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment to support troops in the field.

British company BAE announced it has received an order from the Defense Logistics Agency worth $43 million for the U.S. Army's primary field equipment system Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment.

Officials say the MOLLE order, part of a $374 million multiyear contract awarded to BAE in 2008, includes core rifleman sets, ruck pack sets and components that will go to support ongoing troop requirements.

"The MOLLE system minimizes unnecessary injury to our armed forces personnel by allowing weight to be carried more effectively and safely through a system that better distributes load on the user's torso," Joe Coltman, BAE Systems vice president of Personnel Protection Systems, said in a statement.

"The MOLLE system continues to be evaluated by government customers against other load carriage systems and continues to demonstrate it is the premier load carriage system in use today."
