LM to continue F-16 training services

ORLANDO, Fla., July 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin a follow-on contract to continue providing F-16 fighter aircraft pilot training services.

U.S. company Lockheed Martin was awarded the $13 million contract from the Air Force's Air Education Training Command. Lockheed Martin was also awarded a $20 million contract from the Air National Guard Bureau.

As part of the follow-on awards, Lockheed Martin will continue to provide F-16 aircraft training services that include simulators, academic instruction and other coursework at Air Force bases in Arizona, Ohio and Texas.

"Lockheed Martin has supported the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard training program since 2002, training approximately 500 students a year," Jim Weitzel, vice president of flight solutions for Lockheed Martin Simulation, Training and Support, said in a statement.

"We will continue our commitment to deliver the best training available today and will work with our customers to reinvent how we prepare their students for challenges they may face tomorrow."
