ViaSat to deliver MIDS terminals to SPAWAR

CARLSBAD, Calif., July 1 (UPI) -- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Center San Diego has contracted ViaSat Inc. to deliver its terminal technologies to support combat situational awareness.

U.S. company ViaSat was awarded the contract to deliver its Multifunctional Information Distribution System terminals to support greater situational awareness for the U.S. military and allies.

Under the approximately $21 million SPAWAR contract, ViaSat will provide its jam resistant MIDS terminals to connects military units with digital voice communications and digital data.

"This award exemplifies our continuing high value proposition in both the domestic and international MIDS markets," Jay Kaufman, ViaSat MIDS-Low Volume Terminal program director, said in a statement.

"With outstanding engineering and production teams -- and the help of our trusted vendors -- we've focused on responsiveness in fulfilling the needs of the MIDS community."
