VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., July 1 (UPI) -- The Capability Maturity Model Integration appraisal team has designated U.S. company Global Mission Systems with a Maturity Level 3 rating.

The CMMI Maturity Level 3 rating designates Global Mission Systems a leading integrator of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, or C4ISR, systems.

CMMI, developed for sponsors that include the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the National Defense Industrial Association, is a recognized standard for products improvements and assessments and is comprised of appraisers including industry, government and the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute officials.

With the CMMI Maturity Level 3 Global Mission Systems will be able to compete for a new level of contracts.

"Achieving the Maturity Level 3 rating demonstrates not only our commitment to technological excellence in our missions systems division, but also our dedication to the work of our customers," John Hillen Global North America president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"This rating is part of our on-going goal to improve our operations and become a larger and even more capable mission partner for our national security community customers."
