BIO-key selected for MobileCop tech

WALL, N.J., June 30 (UPI) -- U.S. company BIO-key International has been contracted by a New York law enforcement agency for its vehicle-based critical information access technology.

BIO-key was awarded the contract from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office in the northern New York metropolitan area. Under the deal, BIO-key will issue additional licenses of its MobileCop technologies for use by Ulster County law enforcement authorities.

BIO-key's MobileCop system is vehicle-based software technology providing law informant access to federal, state and local databases from laptops in police vehicles.

"By having every law enforcement agency tied in, we've increased the speed of communications across the entire county," Thomas Lattin, Ulster County Sheriff's Office deputy, said in a statement.

"And because messages can't be intercepted by a scanner, those communications stay secure."
