WARRENVILLE, Ill., June 24 (UPI) -- U.S. company Navistar Defense Wednesday announced the debut of its specially designed International Husky Tactical Support Vehicle.

Navistar Defense says its new Husky TSV, equipped with the company's MaxxForce engine, is designed to support the British military's vehicle requirements in the rugged terrain of Afghanistan.

The British Ministry of Defense contracted Navistar Defense to deliver 262 of its Husky vehicles, which are also designed to offer protections from ballistics fire and other explosive threats.

"The Navistar team is going after an aggressive delivery commitment to provide our United Kingdom forces with the equipment they need as soon as possible," Archie Massicotte, Navistar Defense president, said in a statement.

"Not only will we deliver quickly to support those in theater, but Navistar is prepared to rapidly incorporate design changes into our vehicles as in-theater threats evolve."
