RA'ANANA, Israel, June 23 (UPI) -- Authorities from Xian Metro in China have contracted Nice Systems Ltd. to install its Internet Protocol video security technologies at 21 metro stations.

Israel-based Nice was selected by Xian Metro, the transportation authority in Xian, China, to deliver its real-time distributed digital IP video system.

The video surveillance technologies will be installed at all 21 of Xian Metro's stations providing security authorities threat-identification capabilities to support critical decision-making and enhance passenger safety.

"We are glad to be selected by Xian Metro and support them in their efforts to increase the safety and security of the city's first metro line," Doron Ben-Sira, Nice APAC president, said in a statement.

"Building on past successful implementations of Nice's digital video security solutions in China for Beijing Metro, the Ministry of Rail, and Shanghai Pudong Airport, this project demonstrates Nice's expanding role in providing advanced solutions to enhance the security of China's transportation networks, and our leadership role in meeting the security needs of mass transit systems worldwide."
