TEWKSBURY, Mass., June 19 (UPI) -- The Finnish government has contracted Raytheon to support the country's National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System requirements.
U.S. company Raytheon says its Integrated Defense Systems unit will work in cooperation with Norway-based Kongsberg to support the requirements of Finland's NASAMS medium-range air defense missile system.
The network-enabled NASAMS, developed through cooperation between Kongsberg and Raytheon, is designed to provide air defense using sensors, command, control and communication systems and missile technologies.
"We look forward to working with the Finnish Defense Forces to provide Finland with the finest medium range air defense system," Pete Franklin, vice president of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems National and Theater Security Programs, said in a statement.
