The Quantico, Va.-based operations of the Marine Corps awarded U.S. company Ceradyne a $8.3 million order to deliver its armor technologies as part of a larger Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract.

"We are pleased to receive this Marine order," David Reed, Ceradyne North American operations president, said in a statement.

"Ceradyne is also pleased with the knowledge that we continue to save the lives of American fighting men and women."

Ceradyne said Thursday the Enhanced Small Arms Protective Inserts order is expected to be completed in September.
