Elbit joint venture to support F-35

HAIFA, Israel, June 16 (UPI) -- U.S. company Lockheed Martin has contracted an Elbit Systems Ltd. joint venture to support the F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter program.

Israel-based Elbit, a defense electronics development company, says its joint venture with Rockwell Collins and Vision Systems International was awarded the Lockheed Martin contracts to support the F-35 program.

The Elbit, Rockwell Collins, VSI joint venture was awarded more than $54.1 million in contracts by Lockheed Martin. As part of the awards, the joint venture will deliver 52 of its F-35 Helmet Mounted Displays.

According to a news release, VSI also received "initial funding for the Pilot Fit Facility Standup at Eglin Air Force Base (U.S. Air Force) for the F-35 Helmet Mounted Display System program."
