WASHINGTON , June 11 (UPI) -- U.S. company Savi Technology announced the unveiling of its next-generation real-time asset-location technology designed to improve operational efficiency.

Savi has unveiled its Real Time Locating System asset-locating technology. Officials say the RTLS, based on battery-powered radio frequency identification technology, is designed to support critical asset locating in harsh and heavy-metal environments like in defense and government facilities.

Savi says its RTLS also is designed to improve operational efficiency and lower the amount of time it takes to locate assets.

"Savi RTLS breaks through the cost, complexity and configuration barriers of other RTLS solutions," Steve Farrell, Savi Technology vice president of Hardware Engineering, said in a statement.

"The Savi RTLS Solution adds a further dimension to our growing portfolio of interoperable solutions that identify, track, and manage assets, whether in-transit across the supply chain or at rest at a precise location."
