LEXINGTON, Mass., June 11 (UPI) -- BAE Systems announced it has reached a milestone for the number of its thermal imaging technologies delivered to support the U.S. Army.
British company BAE says its facility in Lexington, Mass., has delivered the 100,000th of its MicroIR uncooled thermal imager system to the Army since 1996.
The latest delivery of the MicroIR uncooled thermal imagers, designed to detect heat sources to identify potential threats to military units, will be install in the Army's Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station.
"BAE Systems leads the industry developing and producing this innovative, low-cost technology that has proved so valuable to protecting our men and women in combat," Mike Lewis, BAE Systems Infrared Imaging Systems unit vice president and general manager of soldier and vehicle solutions, said in a statement.
