COSTA MESA, Calif., June 10 (UPI) -- U.S. company Ceradyne Inc. announced it has acquired nearly all of Diaphorm Technologies' combat and non-combat helmet assets.

Ceradyne says it has purchased New Hampshire-based Diaphorm's ballistic combat and non-combat helmet business, assets and all technology and intellectual property.

Officials say the acquisition of Diaphorm's helmet business was for $9.5 million. Ceradyne made the purchase as part of a move to expand its body armor programs with Diaphorm's helmet technologies.

"I am extremely pleased and excited over this acquisition," David Reed, Ceradyne vice president and president of North American Operations, said in a statement.

"The acquisition paves the way for our entry into the protective combat and non-combat helmet market. This acquisition combines excellent technology with our ability to produce high-volume protective products for military applications."
