
ROCKVILLE, Md., June 9 (UPI) -- BAE Systems announced the completed acquisition of Arizona-based unmanned aircraft systems developer Advanced Ceramics Research Inc.
British company BAE released a statement Monday announcing it has completed its acquisition of Advanced Ceramics Research following a definitive agreement with the company signed in March. BAE said the purchase of Advanced Ceramics Research was through a stock-purchase deal.
The acquisition of Advanced Ceramics Research, which develops small UAS technologies and ceramic materials, is part of an effort by BAE to expand its operations in the UAS market.
"The acquisition of Advanced Ceramics Research allows us to further advance our global Unmanned Aircraft Systems strategy in the United States," Mike Heffron, President of BAE Systems Electronics, Intelligence & Support, said in a statement.
"Their experience and expertise in small/mini and tactical UAS complements the UAS platforms being developed by BAE Systems in the United Kingdom and other home markets."
