Teledyne selected for DARPA program

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., June 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Project Agency has contracted Teledyne Technologies Inc. to support the Terahertz Electronics program.

U.S. company Teledyne says its Scientific and Imaging subsidiary was awarded the contract from DARPA's Microsystems Technology Office.

Under the two-year $8.3 million phase I award, TS&I will lead a team that includes NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, University of California at Santa Barbara, University of California at San Diego and Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, to develop terahertz electronics devices and integrated circuits as part of DARPA's Terahertz Electronics program.

According to a news release, TS&I will use its high performance Indium Phosphide heterojuction bipolar transistor technology to "pursue revolutionary advances in transistor technology, circuit design and circuit packaging to demonstrate receiver and transmitter blocks operating at frequencies greater than 1.0 Terahertz."
