BATON ROUGE, La., June 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Department has contracted the Shaw Group Inc. to provide the military with energy support services.

U.S. company Shaw says its Environmental and Infrastructure Group was awarded the contract from the Defense Energy Support Center at the Defense Department.

As part of the contract Shaw will provide the DESC with petroleum resources support including environmental assessment and emergency response services among other requirements at eight military installations in the United States.

"Improved environmental performance, optimized use of existing infrastructure and increased energy savings are critical to Department of Defense operations at Defense Fuel Support Points," George Bevan, Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure Group president, said in a statement.

"Shaw's expanding position as a leading Defense Energy Support contractor further demonstrates our ability to deliver cost-effective environmental, infrastructure and management services to the federal government."
