EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla., June 1 (UPI) -- U.S. company Raytheon announced it has successfully conducted a test flight of its next-generation Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile.

Raytheon says it has successfully tested its AIM-120D AMRAAM from a U.S. Air Force F-15D Eagle fighter aircraft. Officials say the test flight marked a milestone for Raytheon with the technology's seventh completed test.

According to a news release the "initial analysis shows the missile achieved all primary test objectives."

"The hard work of the U.S. government-Raytheon team to deliver a world-class missile continues to pay off," Col. Michael Andersen, commander of the Air Force 328th Armament Systems Group, said in a statement.

"The AIM-120D program is on track and will deliver to the U.S. warfighter the most capable beyond-visual range air-to-air missile ever fielded."
