Textron completes test with SFW tech

WILMINGTON, Mass., May 27 (UPI) -- U.S. company Textron Defense Systems announced it has successfully completed flight tests with its smart munitions system.

Textron Defense Systems says its recent flight tests of its Sensor Fuzed Weapon smart munitions technologies were successfully completed. The Sensor Fuzed Weapon is an air-delivered weapon meeting the Defense Department's unexploded ordnance criteria for cluster munitions.

Officials say the Sensor Fuzed Weapon systems, assembled at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in Oklahoma, successfully completed three flight tests at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

"We are committed to delivering munitions solutions that are both effective in their missions and free of dangerous unexploded ordnance," Mark Catizone, Textron Defense Systems senior vice president and general manager, said in a statement.

"For years, Textron Defense Systems has designed its smart munitions with robust, technologically advanced clean battlefield technologies to ensure that we are keeping noncombatants as safe as our warfighters."
