Teen solves centuries-old math problem
TORRANCE, Calif., May 26 (UPI) -- The U.S. Transportation Security Administration has contracted Rapiscan Systems Inc. for the delivery of its X-ray scanning technologies.
As part of an approximately $3 million order, U.S. company Rapiscan will deliver its 620Dual-View X-ray scanning systems to the TSA for use at aviation security checkpoints.
The 620Dual-View technology, widely deployed by the TSA at U.S. airports, is designed to scan baggage and parcels to detect and identify explosive threats and other illicit materials.
"We are honored that TSA has chosen to make this award one of the first awards using economic stimulus funds with the deployment of the Rapiscan Systems 620Dual-View," Ajay Mehra, Rapiscan Systems president, said in a statement.
"The system is an excellent example of U.S. technology and manufacturing innovation, and we are proud that it is the primary carry-on baggage screening solution for three of the five busiest U.S. airports."
