PARSIPPANY, N.J., May 8 (UPI) -- Curtiss-Wright Corp. has been contracted to support the CH-53K heavy-lift helicopter under development by Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. for the U.S. Marine Corps.

Curtiss-Wright was contracted by Sikorsky to provide its data concentrator units for the next-generation Marine Corps CH-53K helicopter as part of a $22 million deal.

According to a news release, Curtiss-Wright's data concentrator units support data monitoring and processing for CH-53K subsystem components.

"We are extremely pleased for the vote of confidence placed in Curtiss-Wright by Sikorsky Aircraft for this critical element of a very complex aircraft system," Martin Benante, Curtiss-Wright chairman and chief executive, said in a statement.

"The helicopter market continues to be a significant contributor to the growth of our core military aerospace business and has been a key factor in the robust organic sales growth of our integrated sensing products."
