VIENNA, Va., April 21 (UPI) -- LGS and Redcom Laboratories Inc. announced a partnership to offer the Defense Department secured command-and-control communication capabilities.

U.S. companies LGS and Redcom formed a partnership to combine technical expertise in a move to offer the Defense Department secure communications that are interoperable with commercial cellular and Voice over Internet Protocol technologies.

Company officials said they will jointly offer LGS's Tactical Base Station Router multiband cellular system and Redcom's Slice 2100 voice-switching technology that combined will enable integrated VoIP and Time-Division Multiplexing.

"By combining the LGS (Tactical Base Station Router) with Redcom's Slice 2100, we can truly deliver to the soldier a converged communications solution set," Klaus Gueldenpfennig, Redcom president, said in a statement.

"This solution set is reliable and is standards-based. Soldiers can now have secure, end-to-end, wired-to-wireless communications and have secure interoperability with U.S. joint forces fielded TDM and VoIP technologies."
