DLA contracts BAE for Outer Tactical Vests

PHOENIX, April 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Logistics Agency has contracted BAE Systems to deliver its tactical body armor to support the protection of troops in combat zones.

British company BAE was contracted for 75,000 of its widely deployed Outer Tactical Vests with ballistic inserts, yoke collars, throat protectors and other armor protections.

BAE officials said the company's facilities in Tennessee would be responsible for the manufacturing and delivery of the Outer Tactical Vests and components.

"BAE Systems' Tennessee operations produce products like the (Outer Tactical Vest) as well as deliver the latest technology in Improved Outer Tactical Vests to our armed forces around the globe," Joe Coltman, BAE Systems vice president of Personnel Protection Systems, said in a statement.
